TOCE FALLS

Today’s post is for all the nature lovers…

Yesterday we went with a group of friends to the TOCE FALLS (Cascate del Toce), in the Valle Formazza (Verbania – Piemonte) close to the source of the river Toce. It’s located in La Frua, the northernmost part of Piemonte very close to the Swiss border. At 1675 masl and with its 143 meters of height, it’s the second largest fall in Europe and considered one of the most spectacular of the Alps. On top of the falls there is this little wooden bridge from where you have such an amazing view!

The Toce falls is only completely visible during the summer months; from June till the end of September.

  • June + July + August + September; Monday-Saturday from 11.30 to 13.30 and Sunday from 10 to 16
  • 10 – 20 August; from 10 to 16
  • 15 & 16 August; from 10 to 18

During the other months it’s closed because it’s waters are collected in the artificial Lake Morasco (Lago di Morasco) and used for hydroelectric purposes.

Don’t miss out on this beautiful piece of Piemonte’s nature!!

  1. I love the sound of crashing waves, babbling brooks and waterfalls. There is something so peaceful about it. We have one large water fall less than 5 minutes by hike from my apartment and I love to go there just to get away from all the people and relax. However, your scenes are about a million time more beautiful than anything we have here in HK.
