Some of you might have seen a little preview on my FB page…the National & International Food Market located on the big square in front of the beautiful Castle Sforzesco in the centre of Milan. An extremely sunny day, lots of delicious food and a beautiful setting in Milan…it was a great day!!! More than 7000 square meters all about food. Specialties from the different regions in Italy and so many other countries. Many tastings so you know what you are going to buy…or not of course. Many market stalls that prepared a tasteful lunch. This small part of the Milano Food Week was fabulous!
We started with Dutch “poffertjes” but Italian style with a bit of Nutella on top. Too good!! We continued with some food tastings. We tasted many things like different types of cheese (from Italy, Switzerland and France), all different types of olives and tarallucci from Puglia, all kinds of salumi from both the North and the South of Italy. We tasted a delicious snack from Bergamo…but I forgot the name….sigh!! and extremely yummy cannoli from Sicily. And then we needed to decide what to have for lunch. And we had so many choices that it was pretty difficult! What to choose between a simple yet tasteful panino, Spanish paella with seafood, grilled meat from Argentina, Thai food, a Lebanese dish, German bratwurst and soooo much more… Well, I chose a vegetarian dish this time: falafel. I loved it!! And I can assure you that the smell of my dish and the rest of all this good food was mouth-watering!!!
You can visit the Food Market until the 24th of May. This will be the last day of this year’s Milano Food Week. But there’s so much more to visit today and this coming week. You can see the complete program on the official website: www.milanofoodweek.it You can also register for free here and get your Milano Food Lovers Pass. It will be valid until April next year and besides many discounts during the Milano Food Week you get other discounts during the rest of year… You can collect your pass on the Piazza San Babila in the city center and they even give you two types of organic tea. I can’t wait to check that out as I’m a huge tea fan!!!
