If you ask what I like so much about the Italian cuisine, I would say its simplicity. Simplicity and taste characterize Italian dishes. With only few ingredients you can create the most tasteful dishes. I have blogged about antipasti with only 3 ingredients before. No long list of ingredients and yet refined and healthy ‘snacks’ which lead to an explosion of flavors in your mouth! Take the well-known caprese salad.Tomatoes, Mozzarella and Basil. That’s it. And still, with only these 3 ingredients you create the perfect Italian snack in less than 5 minutes! Fabulous right? However, it is fun to change the appearance of this dish. Therefore I decided to put the salad on a stick! I used small mozzarella balls and to be honest I’m not sure if you can find them outside of Italy. Maybe in Italian deli stores…?
Even though this is no new recipe, it is one that has been one of my favorite over the years. You must put it on the menu if you want to make some real Italian snacks when you have friends over!
Caprese Salad
Ingredients:
Cherry tomatoes
Mozzarella balls
Basil
small skewers/toothpicks
Preparation:
Slide the mozzarella ball on the skewer/toothpick, followed by basil and then a cherry tomato. Make as much as you want!
Yum Yum! I love that salad and make it often during the warmer months. We get ‘baby bocconcini’ balls here and they would work beautifully for your caprese salad on a stick 🙂
Yes they are perfect for this recipe indeed!! How great that you can find them easily :D. You can enjoy them when it’s freezing cold here 😉
I think I would enjoy them any time of year too! 🙂
These are just to cute! Love em!
🙂 thanks Diana!!
